Broken Arm

I figured this day would eventually come... 2 active boys, heavily involved in sports = broken bones!

He was excited to go back to school and have everyone sign his cast!

As a mom, I hope I don't have to experience a day like this again....
How it happened... Carter was biking home from church by himself (we live just around the block). As he was coasting down the hill getting near our street (carrying the leftover communion bread) a truck turned towards him. The truck, a little too close for Carter's comfort caused Carter to panic. He lost his balance and fell. We are so very thankful he didn't fall in the direction of the truck.
As soon as we got home, we took him over to River hospital... he had broken his left wrist. After they x-rayed him, they fitted him with a splint.
Today we went to see the orthopedic doctor. We learned that the bone had to be set.  The doctor said he wouldn't lie to Carter... it was going to hurt! My heart ached for my boy wishing I could take his spot... but he was a trooper!! After popping it back into place (and wiping away the tears - mostly mine), they put him in a cast and x-rayed again - everything looked good. We are hoping and praying for a quick recovery - but he'll be in the cast for at least a month. Poor guy - no more baseball, and probably no summer sports camps.
I have already made Zach promise me that he will never break any bones!

  1. Aw! Poor Carter! I hope the time passes quickly for him. Aiden broke his arm a couple of years ago when he fell off his bike. Never fun!
