House Hunting in Michigan

For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. Psalm 86:10

Scott and I just returned from being in Michigan for the week. We went hoping and praying that we would find a home for our family to settle into for when we make our move to Michigan. We looked at ten homes on Tuesday and Wednesday, and when we saw the ninth one - I think we knew it was the one. We put an offer on it on Wednesday afternoon and we came to an agreement today! I wasn't sure if it would be possible to find and buy a house in two days, but God is good and He provided for us. Its still isn't quite final, a home inspection still needs to be done - but its hard not to be excited! I am already thinking of paint colors and where to place the furniture. The house is in Wayland, MI. Scott will have approximately a fifteen minute drive to church and the schools are within walking distance for the boys.

It wasn't all house hunting...we were able to stay a night at a beach house on Lake Michigan. A huge thank you to the lovely couple from church who allowed us to enjoy their home for the night. What a gorgeous spot!

On our way home, we stopped and spent the night with family. We enjoyed visiting with Scott's mom, got to see my sister-in-law Cindy and brother-in-law briefly at our nephew Dylan's soccer game and then stayed the night at my other sister-in-law Sue and brother-in-law Dave's home. It was so nice to see everyone!

  1. Wow! You guys don't mess around! Given the fact that it's been FREEZING and raining here non-stop the last two days, I'm guessing the beach was on Wednesday. Glad you were able to see the sun and enjoy some beach time!

Congrats and good luck on the house!

  2. Hi Tanya -- i've been following your blog a bit as we go to Corinth too and so I want to welcome you! I'm excited that you found a house in Wayland as we live in Wayland...i'm thinking you are in the subdivision by the Middle School and High School??? We live on Hickory which is west of the high school parking lot...I wanted to also share that I think my son Mitchell is the same age as Carter and perhaps they will be in school together if you are choosing to send your boys to Wayland?! Mitch will be in 7th grade ACCEL for English and Math -- these are classes that are at a faster pace and a little more academically challenging...there's only one ACCEL class for each subject so if your son is in them, they would be in the same class. I see too that your boys love mini golf (Mitch's absolute favorite), baseball and basketball (also staples in our household). We have a girl too, Sarah who is eight. So I just thought we should keep in touch as you begin your Michigan adventure. I'd love to get to know you all better and if you want to keep in touch via email mine is jillbsalisbury@charter.net. I'm praying for you to have a smooth transition...we did not move around when i was a kid so i don't have that experience, but can only imagine as a mom what all that entails! let me know if you need anything - esp. advice on the lay of the land - i'll do my best...have a great day! ~Jill Salisbury
